Who’s Leading the Workshop?

Our group has experts, practitioners, and scholars to bring you the best Storytelling Organization practices.  They are:

David Boje, PhD originated the theory of “Storytelling Organization.” He is author of hundreds of articles, chapters, and several books on Storytelling Organization. His scholarly work is in the most highly rated scholarly journals and is acclaimed internationally. His research on multinational companies includes Disney, Stew Leonard’s, McDonald’s, Wal-Mart, Nike, and Enron’s demise. He teaches Ph.D. seminars in storytelling and strategy, storytelling and leadership, and storytelling and change. David is President of Standing Conference for Management and Organization Inquiry. Dr. Ken Baskin is a writer, lecturer, and consultant, specializing in applying the principles of Complexity Theory to organizations. A fellow at the Institute for the Study of Coherence and Emergence, his current projects include exploring the dynamics created when people enact the stories they tell, to themselves and others, and developing an East/West model for businesses operating in both. Dr. Baskin’s 1998 book, Corporate DNA, which was translated into Chinese, examines what happens when managers think of their organizations as living things. He has presented at World Future Society Annual Conference, the Rand Corp. Workshop on Complexity and Public Policy, a Complexity Management Forum seminar in Tokyo, the 2003 International Nonlinear Sciences Conference in Vienna, and the Complexidad 2006 Conference in Havana. Dr. Baskin’s clients have included ITT, Air Products,Monsanto, and Verizon. Carolyn Gardner, PhD has consulting experience working in large organizations, such as Arthur Andersen & Co. and Hughes Aircraft Company (now Raytheon) as well as start-up and LBO organizations.  She has published articles and made presentations on organizational strategy stories and their relationship to ethical reputation.  Carolyn has received training at NTL (National Training Labs ) in group process. As a professor of management Carolyn teaches courses in Organizational Change, Organizational Behavior, International Management and Business Ethics. Grace Ann Rosile, PhD has consulted with business, health care, government, and academia while a professor of management teaching classes in  Organizational Behavior, Management Development and Training, Leadership, Human Resources Management, Managing Diversity, and Business Policy and Strategy.  She has written numerous articles on topics such as ReStorying in organizations, narratives of empowerment and disempowerment, and ethics. Theodore Taptiklis, MBA (Insead) is the founder and leader of the Storymaker Foundation, an enterprise that helps professionals to capture and exchange their knowledge and experience as navigable story collections. Starting as a university-based research project in 1998, Storymaker has now undertaken ground-breaking knowledge assignments for leading organizations in several countries with a growing team of colleagues. Theodore is a veteran organization developer and business strategist, starting out as a consultant in a six-year stint with McKinsey and Company and then working in senior roles in blue-chip companies, until an epiphany in 1995 led him towards a new career as a practitioner in narrative methods and now, as a publishing scholar in this burgeoning field of enquiry. Theodore serves both public and private-sector clients from his base in Wellington, New Zealand and also in Cambridge, UK. Jo Tyler, EdD has 22 years of experience as a business insider in multinational companies including Hewlett Packard, Otis Elevator, Pratt & Whitney and most recently as the Vice President of Organization and Management Development for Armstrong World Industries. Dr. Tyler is Assistant Professor at Pennsylvania State University in the school of Behavioral Science and Education, and is an adjunct professor at Columbia University. In addition, she is the principal of Humanizing Business, an independent consulting practice specializing in story-based processes that foster individual, team and organizational growth and change, and a professional storyteller. She completed her doctoral work in Adult Learning and Leadership at Columbia University in New York in 2004, focusing her dissertation on story/telling as an element of learning and knowledge transfer strategies. She is a frequent speaker and workshop leader in business, academic and story venues at home and abroad. Jo lives in Baltimore, MD.
