What is PeaceAware? PeaceAware is a transorganizational network, facilitating coalitions of 28 groups and organizations interested in Peace and Justice awareness issues. PeaceAware is a member of United for Peace & Justice and has local liasion to Move-On, Pastors For Peace, Band of Hope (email), International Workers' Rights, and International A.N.S.W.E.R. We organize worldwide.

HISTORY - The PeacAware Network was formed the week before October 28 2002, with its first Teach-IN Speak-Out event. The original SPONSORING NETWORK did terrific work together, bringing Peace & Justice issues to greater awareness in New Mexico. We continue to network with local Peace and Justice groups & organizations for major transorganizational events, such as the Feb 15 and March 20th 2003 (225 person) Marches for Peace in Las Cruces, the May 1st 2003 Teach-In "International Solidarity" at NMSU & the Oct 03 Klein Park event.

ADVISORY BOARD NETWORK- In order to spread the peace festivity, we have formed a transorganizational coalition of local peace & justice-minded groups and organizations, called th e "ADVISORY BOARD NETWORK." Each member of PeaceAware's ADVISORY BOARD coordinates with our STEERING COMMITTEE and Co-Organizers. PeaceAware's ADVISORY BOARD coalition acts to plan events, mobilize community support, and strategize what to do next. We encourage you to nominate groups & organizations to the PeaceAware NETWORK.

NM-DUST Depleted Uranium Study Team Chapter for New Mexico; IDUST is working to ban the use of depleted uranium from munitions used by the US, the UK, and a small number of other countries. You can find an abundance of information about depleted uranium at the IDUST website, www.idust.net.
