Ronald gives a short lecture on the chronotopicity of the Rougue-Clown-Fool
and examples of Bakhtin's grotesque humor. There are no questions
We forgot to take a photo of the factory in this play so here is one from
the June 2004 perofrmance at the OBTC conference
A Chinese supervisor (with white beard) somehow manages to get a worker
on the Happy Meal factory in China ----> Pregnant. It is all quite scandelous.
Grimace and Ronald are sent by the Board of McD's to see if they can put
a Happy Face on the Happy Meal factory; After all workers everywhere jsut
want to have fun, and McD's is all about fun; They are to get Nan to become
a spokeswoman for Happy Chinese workers
Ronald explains why according to the Periodic Table of Elements, that
she must give up her child for adoption in a Roanld McDoandl House; But
Nan will not become a spokewoman for China McWorkers unless she gets married;
Somehow Ronald agrees...
Ronald and Grimace are not sure what to do
A reporter is trying to find our from Grimace: "Is it true? Did you
convince Nan to marry Ronald?" Grimace replies, "D'Ah, weddings
are happy"
Ronald is being interviewed by a reporter; "Why are you going to
marry Nan? "Are you the father?"
Mayor McCheese performs the wedding ceremony; Ronald and Nana exchange
vows
Nan must die; It's OK it's a COMIC DEATH scene: Ronald says:
Vote now if you want Nan to die giving birth to Ronette
Raise your hand if she dies choking on a Chicken McNugget
What about if she is run over by a Drive-thru motorist
The audience in a Brechtian twist on Boal, votes: how Nan will die?
birdie, Sheriff Big Mac and Mayor McCheese are doing the ending the audience chose. Ronette is being immortalized
The authors of the play: Yue Cai (Nan), Esther Thomas, and your very
own Ronald answer questions about the play.
We thank the OBTC players for their participation in the play
